10 Tips on Using Microphones
1. Use a microphone when talking to more than 100 people.
2. Practise with the microphone before you start. Test the mic with, "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers."
3. Use a clip-on hands free mic if you need your hands to demonstrate products.
4. Use a hand held whenever you can. You have more control over your voice.
5. Hold the handheld mic below your mouth. Don't block your face with the microphone.
6. Look at the audience not the microphone.
7. Learn how to turn it on and off - before you start.
8. Test the pickup level for the clip-on before you start.
9. Have the clip-on clipped on before you walk on stage.
10. When using a fixed mic or clip on - remember your voice is not picked up when you turn your head.
